Aspects

Aspects between planets in an astro chart show how the planets interact with each other and influence each other's energy. The type of aspect, or the angle between the planets, can indicate whether that interaction is harmonious or challenging.

Conjunction

A conjunction occurs when two planets are in close proximity to each other, sharing the same degree or very close degrees in the same zodiac sign. This aspect signifies a merging of energies, intensifying their combined influence. It often represents a sense of unity, cooperation, and shared goals between the planets involved.

Sextile

The sextile aspect occurs when two planets are approximately 60 degrees apart. It is considered a harmonious aspect that facilitates positive communication and opportunities between the planets involved. The sextile aspect supports cooperation, creativity, and the development of skills.

Square

A square aspect is formed when two planets are approximately 90 degrees apart, creating a challenging dynamic between them. This aspect signifies tension, obstacles, and the need for growth or change. It can bring about conflicts, but it also provides an opportunity for growth, transformation, and the development of strength and resilience.

Trine

The trine aspect occurs when two planets are approximately 120 degrees apart, forming a harmonious connection. It represents ease, flow, and cooperation between the planets involved. The trine aspect is associated with opportunities, talents, and a sense of balance and harmony.

Inconjunction

An inconjunct or quincunx aspect occurs when two planets are approximately 150 degrees apart. It represents a challenging and somewhat awkward connection between the planets involved. This aspect often requires adjustments, compromises, and adaptability to find harmony and integration between the energies of the planets.

Opposition

The opposition aspect occurs when two planets are approximately 180 degrees apart. It represents a polarity and tension between the planets involved. The opposition aspect often manifests as a conflict or a need to find balance and integration between opposing forces. It can bring awareness of contrasting perspectives and the need for compromise and cooperation.

Semisquare

A semisquare aspect is formed when two planets are approximately 45 degrees apart. This aspect signifies mild tension and subtle challenges that can build over time if left unaddressed. It represents a need for adjustment and action, often highlighting areas where small but significant changes are required for progress. While less intense than a square, it still encourages personal growth and self-awareness through dealing with minor frustrations and inefficiencies.

Sesquiquadrate

A sesquiquadrate aspect is formed when two planets are approximately 135 degrees apart. This aspect signifies a mix of tension and friction that can feel like a blend between the square and the semisquare. It highlights underlying frustrations and imbalances that push for resolution and realignment. The sesquiquadrate often reveals areas where persistence and effort are needed to overcome obstacles, fostering personal growth, adaptability, and the development of inner strength.

Semisextile

A semisextile aspect is formed when two planets are approximately 30 degrees apart. This aspect signifies subtle connections and a mild sense of disharmony or unease. It often highlights areas where small adjustments or compromises are needed to create balance. While the semisextile doesn't carry the intense tension of major aspects, it can gently nudge towards self-awareness and growth by bringing attention to overlooked or conflicting influences in different areas of life.
